1. Summary

Screen text, photos of papers, family contacts and medicine notes stay on your phone; we never receive them. Every permission except "Modify system settings" is optional. Google services in the app collect some device information for ads, crash reports and usage statistics. We do not sell personal information. There are no accounts.

2. Data that stays on your phone

• Screen text read by Read screen. It is read aloud by the phone's own text-to-speech voice and then discarded.
• Photos of papers and the text recognised from them. Recognition runs on the device (Google ML Kit on-device). The last 10 papers are kept on the phone and excluded from Android backups.
• Magnifier camera images. They are shown live and not saved.
• Family contacts you add: name, phone number and photo of each person you pick. The app uses Android's contact picker and never reads your whole address book.
• Medicine reminders: times, notes, pill photos and voice notes.
• Settings such as theme, reading speed and chosen tools.

3. Permissions

• Modify system settings: to change the phone's text size (main feature).
• Accessibility service: for Read screen (optional, see section 4).
• Camera: for Magnifier and Read paper (optional).
• Phone calls: one-tap calls in Call family; without it the dial pad opens (optional).
• Exact alarms, run at start-up, wake lock: medicine reminders on time, also after a restart (optional).
• Notifications, foreground service: the text-size notification and the flashlight (optional).
• Internet, network state: ads, crash reports, statistics and the Social tab.
• Billing: the one-time Pro purchase, only if you buy it.
• Advertising ID: added by Google Mobile Ads; you can delete it in Android settings.

4. Accessibility service disclosure

Big Font includes an Android accessibility service that powers Read screen, a tool for people who have difficulty reading small text. Before it is turned on, the app explains what it does and asks for your agreement.

• What it accesses: the text shown in the app in front of you, up to 6,000 characters, only at the moment you tap the Read button. It also draws the Read button and reading panel over other apps.
• What it does: shows the text large and reads it aloud on your device.
• What it never does: store, log, upload or share screen content; use it for ads or analytics; run in the background; perform actions for you; read passwords you type.
• How to turn it off: Settings > Accessibility > A+ Big Font.

5. Information collected by Google services

• Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), to show ads: advertising ID, approximate location from IP address, ad interactions, device and diagnostic information.
• Google Analytics for Firebase, to understand which features are used: app instance ID, device model, Android version, and events such as the tool opened, the text size applied, permission results and reminder actions. Never names, phone numbers, notes, papers or screen text.
• Firebase Crashlytics, to fix crashes: crash logs, device model, Android and app version.
• Google Play Billing, for the Pro purchase: purchase status. Payment is handled by Google; we never see card details.

6. Other apps and websites you choose to open

• Social tab: sites such as Facebook or Messenger open in a big-text browser inside the app and apply their own privacy policies and cookies.
• Video calls open WhatsApp, Zalo, Telegram or Viber.
• "Open in Google Lens" hands the chosen photo to the Google Lens app.
• Voice notes use the phone's speech-recognition service, which may process speech under its provider's policy.

7. Advertising choices

You can delete or reset your advertising ID and limit personalised ads in Settings > Privacy > Ads (on some phones Settings > Google > Ads). Buying Pro removes ads.

8. Children

Big Font is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Data retention and deletion

Data on your phone is deleted when you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Analytics data is kept by Google for a limited period and then deleted automatically. To ask us to delete analytics data linked to your device, email support@hoanio.com.

10. Security

Google services send information over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Content that stays on your phone is protected by Android's app sandbox.

11. Changes

We will update the effective date above when this policy changes and mention important changes in the app's release notes.
